Therapy for Couples & Moms Navigating Life's Hardest Transitions

Whether you’re working through conflict with your partner or finding your footing as a mother, I offer a space to be honest, be heard, and find your way back to yourself – and each other.

Hello, I'm Alla Rachel Shapiro, LMHC-D, LPC.

Welcome — Licensed Psychotherapist for Individuals & Couples

Welcome! I’m a Licensed Psychotherapist providing individual and couples therapy in-person in Livingston, NJ, and via telehealth throughout New York, New Jersey, and Florida. My passion is guiding individuals and couples toward stronger relationships, greater self-awareness, and lasting emotional well-being.

Women’s Mental Health

Support for Moms — Navigating Motherhood, Identity & Mental Health Individuals:

Becoming a mother — or trying to become one — can bring up anxiety, grief, identity shifts, and pressure that can be hard to name, let alone talk about. I work with moms navigating:

  • Pregnancy and postpartum adjustment
  • Infertility and pregnancy loss
  • Postpartum anxiety and depression
  • Loss of identity or self-esteem struggles after becoming a mother
  • General anxiety and depression
  • Feeling like you have to hold everything together, for everyone

This work is about more than coping — it’s about reconnecting with who you are, apart from every role you carry.

Psychotherapy for Couples: — Rebuild Communication and Trust

  • I help couples work through:

    • Communication problems and recurring conflict
    • Trust issues and rebuilding after a breach of trust
    • Sex and intimacy concerns
    • Major life transitions — a move, a new baby, a career change
    • Extended family and in-law conflict
    • Feeling more like co-managers of a household than partners

Using an integration of Gottman Method and EFT, we work on both the concrete tools for better communication and the deeper emotional patterns keeping you stuck.
