About Alla

Alla is a licensed therapist with over a decade of experience. Alla specializes in working with couples, parents, and women navigating the transition into motherhood. Her approach is rooted in the belief that beneath the tension, criticism, and emotional shutdown are deeper longings to feel heard, respected, and connected. Drawing from psychodynamic, Existential therapy, family systems, and narrative therapy, she helps clients understand the underlying patterns driving disconnection—often shaped by early experiences, relational trauma, and cultural expectations. Alla is also certified in Levels 1 and 2 of the Gottam Method and integrates this with Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) in her work with couples.

In her work, Alla offers a direct yet compassionate presence. She helps couples move beyond reactive cycles—blame, defensiveness, silence—and into conversations that uncover what’s really at stake. Whether partners are stuck in recurring arguments, navigating parenting differences, or rebuilding trust, her goal is to create space for meaningful repair, emotional clarity, and growth.

Alla has a particular passion for helping parents stay emotionally connected in the midst of stress, identity shifts, and the everyday demands of raising children. She also works closely with women navigating the often complex transition into motherhood—supporting them as they redefine themselves, their partnerships, and their inner lives in the face of new roles, expectations, and vulnerabilities.

Alla’s style is direct, evocative, and deeply humanistic, blending emotionally attuned insight with culturally sensitive analysis. She doesn’t follow a rigid protocol; instead, she fluidly adapts based on each client’s relational context and emotional landscape.

Background & Philosophy

She started in the field by working with children, adolescents, and families in diverse settings, including schools and pediatric practices. She currently serves as the Director of Behavioral Health at Downstate Pediatric Associates, where she also supervises trainees on their path to becoming therapists.

From early on, Alla recognized that working with a child means working with their entire system—their family, relationships, and environment. This insight shaped her relational approach and deepened her understanding of the complex emotional dynamics that influence individual well-being.

Guided by her core values—self-acceptance, connection, communication, and courage—Alla is committed to helping individuals and families build lives that feel aligned, empowered, and authentically their own. She believes that while emotional resilience isn’t always something we’re taught, it’s never too late to learn
